DUPR League

Whether you're new to the game or an experienced player looking to spice up your pickleball experience, our league offers an engaging team competition format that adds thrilling twists to the traditional gameplay and scoring systems.
This is a DUPR league. DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) is a system designed to help players find others with similar skill levels. This creates more balanced and enjoyable matches. Here's how the DUPR system works in our league:
- Ratings Range: DUPR ratings typically range from 2.00 (beginner) to 5.50+ (top professional).
- Finding Your Rating: You can find your official DUPR rating on the DUPR website (https://mydupr.com/) or download it on your phone or tablet.
- Our League's Divisions: We use DUPR ratings to create divisions, ensuring fair and exciting competition within these skill-based groups.
- Find Us on DUPR: Once you create an account, go to the Play submenu and type in "Stonewall Sports" in the search bar. Select "Join Club" button to be added to the group. Here's a direct link to our club page.

How it works:
- Form a team of 4 players ready to showcase their skills and teamwork.
- Engage in intense matches consisting of four games of doubles. In these games, teams will decide their pairings, ensuring strategic gameplay and camaraderie. Players should play with a different partner each match. For example,
- Match 1: P1 and P2
- Match 2: P3 and P4
- Match 3: P1 and P3
- Match 4: P2 and P4
- Each game is a fast-paced race to 15 points, demanding precision, strategy, and effective teamwork for victory. Teams need to win by 2 points.
- Should a tie arise (2-2 after the initial four games), the suspense escalates with a tiebreaker game, its format revealed upon registration, adding an extra layer of excitement.
1:1 Tiebreaker
- It's a singles match (one person vs. one person) to decide the winner.
- Each team sends out one player. Players switch out every four rallies (serves) until someone reaches 21 points and is ahead by two.

Roles
Team Captains: Captains must first register before players can join the team. During the registration process, captains will be given space to choose their top three preferred team t-shirt colors for the season. Captains and Co-Captains must also attend a mandatory Captain's Meeting. If the captain or co-captain cannot attend, they must provide a representative in their place.
Team Player: If you already know which team you are going to play on and have received approval from that team captain, you will need to register as a team player. Please note that captains have the final say over their rosters and can email the Pickleball Director to remove a player from their team, but only after the captain has first communicated with the player and explained the reason for removal.
New Players/Free Agents: Players registering as Free Agents (aka any player joining not as part of an existing team) will be either be placed on teams needing free agents or teams will be formed based on division preferences. Free Agents will have an opportunity to meet with captains of teams looking to fill open spots on their rosters during the Free Agent Social taking place on Saturday, April 27 at MLK, Jr. Park, immediately following Pickeball 101, taking place from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Small Group: Don't have enough players to fill a team? Start a small group with friends and get placed on a team together once registration closes.

Other Details
- This is a pay-to-play league. Each player must play two matchs per game. If there's a tiebreaker, they must participate in that as well.
- There are two preseason mixers. The first is the Pickleball Mixer and Free Agent Social: April 27, 2024. Location MLK, Jr. Park. Time 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. The second is on Saturday, June 8th from 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. during KC Pride Week. Both are free events for anyone who wants to participate.
- T-shirts: Captains will be given t-shirts to distribute to players before the first game. All players must wear their T-shirts during games. Returning teams have a first right of refusal to their legacy colors.
