Pickleball League Information

Team Pickleball

This is the first inaugural spring season for Stonewall Sports Kansas City. We are introducing a new format to allow players to form teams of up to ten players. The goal is to help build more community for Pickleball and give Pickleball more spectators during matches. For kickball/softball players, this may be your chance to expand your team into this sport! Pickleball rules are still the same - doubles playing to 11 points per match. However, teams will play on two courts with up to five matches on each court. Teams will be scored on the following:

• Teams will win the week by winning a majority of their matches.
• Teams will also accumulate points during matches, contributing to their tournament standing.
• Individuals will accumulate points during their matches, contributing to their score on DUPR.

DUPR Rating System

Matches this season will be tracked using DUPR. The system will allow for more competitive team matchups based on skill levels and will enable players to register for tournaments and events run by other DUPR clubs in the Kansas City area. Please ensure that your DUPR account email matches the one used for Stonewall registration. Contact David for any discrepancies to ensure proper score synchronization. REGISTRATION

Regular registration: $45, 2/21 - 2/25

Late registration: $50, 2/26 - 3/1

Registration may close before the listed dates if the league reaches capacity.

LEAGUE STRUCTURE

• Divisions: Recreation/Beginners and Intermediate/Competitive
  • Register for the recreation and beginners league if socialization is your main priority and winning is not at the top of your list. The key term is recreation. You are here to meet people and form bonds. This division accommodates teams with 2-3 intermediate/competitive players at maximum, but the overwhelming majority should be new to pickleball or beginners.
  • Register for the intermediate to competitive division if the majority of your teammates are competitive and consider winning to be at the top of playing pickleball, and if you consider yourself to be a 3.25 or higher in DUPR in either doubles or singles.
• Players Per Team: Average of 8 per team with a maximum of 10 players per team. If you have 8 or less on your team, you will need to recruit free agents to hit 8 players, or free agents will be matched with your team. 
• Team Limit: 12 for each division. Two teams in each division are already reserved as free agent teams
• Gameplay: Up to ten matches, played to 11 points. If matches are tied, points will determine the winner
• Teams with < 8 players will have their teams filled with free agents until they reach eight players

Days of the week: Wednesday

Schedule: 4/10, 4/17, 4/4, 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 5/29, 6/5 (Tournament)

Playtime: 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Game length: 1 hour

OTHER DETAILS

This is a pay-to-play league. Each player must play at least one match per game.

Each team will occupy two courts for the hour. Each team will play up to five matches on each court. Teams should have at least four players show up each week to play for the week. If matches are tied, total points will determine the winner.

Pickleball Mixer and Free Agent Social: March 2, 2024, at Macken Park. Time TBD.

T-shirts: Captains will be given t-shirts to distribute to players before the first game. All players must wear their T-shirts during games. Returning teams have a first right of refusal to their legacy colors.
